Here I'm going to post some excerpts from Marilyn Manson lyrics among with interesting facts about them, comparisons with other musicians lyrics and other trivia...

  • "She's got eyes like Zapruder and a mouth like heroin. She wants me to be perfect like Kennedy..."

       Posthuman, Mechanical Animals (1998)

Abraham Zapruder was a Dallas merchant who accidentally filmed with his  camera the death of president Kennedy

Marilyn Manson as JFK in the ComaWhite video
Manson and Rose McGowan as JFK and Jackie Kennedy

Two Dandys
Manson and Warhol

  •  "We're rehabbed and we're ready for our 15 minutes of shame"

        I dont like the drugs..,Mechanical Animals(1998)

Play on words with Andy Warhol's famous sentence about the "15 minutes of fame "

  • "Shoot myself to love you, if I loved myself I'd be shooting you"

                    Fundamentally Loathsome, Mechanical Animals(1998)

In their song 'This Love' from the beginning of 90's Pantera sing :' I'd kill myself for you, I'd kill you for myself'. I don't know if Manson had been influenced by this song, but it really reminds me his part in "Fundamentally Loathsome"

  • "GET YOUR GUN!"

Get your gun, Portrait of an American family (1994 )

Marilyn Manson really liked Doors in his youth.

In their song 'Tell all the people' it's sang :

Can't you see me growing,

 get your guns
The time has come
To follow me down

Jim Morrison

Maybe it has inspired him for the song 'Get your gun', or maybe not. However, in 'The dead rock star' he says Jim Morrison had influenced him really much with his music

  • "I'd kill myself to make everybody pay"

              Coma Black, Holy wood (2000)

That's Marilyn's sarcastic interpretation of the cristian idea about the death of Jesus who "died to redeem our sins".i.e to pay for our mistakes...

The Redeemer

...more to come...
